WELCOME

This site is dedicated to exploring the most transformational event in American history. The Civil War took the founders’ vision of what America should be and turned it into the nation that eventually became the America of today. This process took much longer and cost many more lives than anybody could have imagined.

Some of the most heroic, tragic, terrible, and glorious days of American history occurred during this time, and this site will take an in-depth look at all of them. They will be covered at the time that they happened, 160 years later. The material will be presented in a month-by-month format, starting with November 1860 and ending with May 1865, or a total of 55 months.

The material that will be presented in this blog has been compiled over the course of a quarter of a century. Full accuracy will be the main goal, but of course it will not be perfect. As writer and editor of this blog, I assume full responsibility for any errors, and I will do my best to correct them as they are brought to my attention.

Anyone seeking to learn more about this conflict and how it shaped America’s future should find the articles in this blog useful. Visitors are encouraged to subscribe to this blog to get notified of new posts. It is hoped that this information will help readers better understand why the nation split in two, what was done to reunite it, and what we have learned from the conflict since then. We must learn who we were to know who we are.

Thank you for visiting. The journey starts tomorrow.
